New Opportunity to Further Your Bible Knowledge

Summary: Brookes Bible College of St. Louis is launching the new Institute for Christian Studies in June 2022. Online courses allow you to gain credit as you learn from experienced professors, including some seen in Patterns of Evidence films.

…for the good hand of his God was on him. For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel. – Ezra 7:9-10

New Classes Featuring HFS Scholars in Residence

Since 2020, around 200 members of the Historical Faith Society (HFS) have participated in promotional courses co-sponsored between the HFS, Patterns of Evidence, and the Brookes Bible College of St. Louis. Response has been so strong that Brookes is launching a new Institute for Christian Studies to provide more course options as well as make it possible for HFS members and others to gain credit for their work. Featured in these courses will be select personalities and scholars familiar to viewers of the Patterns of Evidence films.

Prof. Douglas Petrovich’s New Geography Course

In the 2019 film, The Moses Controversy, iconoclast Bible scholar and Syro-Palestinian Archaeologist Prof. Douglas Petrovich challenged the consensus with his view of Hebrew as the Language of the Proto-Consonantal Script – the title of his first book. He has since published a follow-up work entitled Origins of the Hebrews: New Evidence of Israelites in Egypt from Joseph to the Exodus in 2021.

Now, viewers – fans and skeptics alike, will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from Dr. Petrovich on the specifics of his research, for 15 weeks in his live course entitled, Geography: The regions of the Mediterranean world and the ancient Near East. Reserve your seat early and then show up with your best questions ready to learn in this exciting and engaging course with Dr. Petrovich, all while earning credit toward a certificate or degree.

Dr. R. Brian Rickett’s New Course on Elementary Hebrew

Also featured in The Moses Controversy was Dr. R. Brian Rickett, Principal Researcher of the MIKRA Research Laboratory. At MIKRA, Dr. Rickett employs a team of Christian and Jewish Hebrew paleographers (specialists in ancient handwriting analysis) that conduct paleographical analyses of Judeo-Christian textual artifacts, emphasizing biblical Hebrew manuscripts. Even now his team is in the process of documenting 6 Hebrew Torah scrolls as well as developing new research platforms.

This fall, at the Institute for Christian Studies at Brookes, you’ll have an opportunity to enroll in Elementary Hebrew and learn to read the Hebrew Bible with Dr. Rickett. He is an experienced language instructor who has been helping students of all ages and skill levels to successfully learn the language since the late 1990s.

In this Elementary Hebrew course, you will gain the tools to enhance your own devotional study of Scripture for personal growth and teaching. An added distinction of this course is that he’ll be incorporating actual biblical manuscripts into his classroom instruction by way of his scroll and manuscript cameras.

This live ZOOM course, straight from the MIKRA Research Laboratory, allows for a one-of-a-kind learning experience that is truly enhanced by the online format.

If you have ever wanted to learn Biblical Hebrew, this is the course for you. Now you can learn to read the text from an actual practitioner through this unique experience. However, there are other popular courses as well. To find out about these and or to register, see the “Online Schedule.”

Note: All certificate courses can be taken for college credit that can be applied to a degree or for personal enrichment (non-credit). These courses are all available for Dual-Enrollment & Home Education students.
